This marks a <strong>5.95% increase<\/strong> compared to the previous month, where exports stood at USD 21.98 billion.<\/p><p><strong>Strong Monthly Growth in Oil &amp; Gas and Non-Oil &amp; Gas Sectors<\/strong><\/p><p>In a press briefing held on Monday, March 21, 2025, BPS Chief <strong>Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti<\/strong> stated that the rise in exports was largely driven by higher contributions from both the oil and gas (migas) sector and non-oil and gas (non-migas) sector.<\/p><p>The export value for the <strong>oil and gas sector rose sharply by 28.81%<\/strong> month-on-month, reaching <strong>USD 1.45 billion<\/strong>. This surge was primarily due to the increased value of oil exports, which contributed a significant <strong>1.81 percentage point share<\/strong> to the overall export growth in March.<\/p><p>Meanwhile, the <strong>non-oil and gas sector<\/strong>\u2014which remains the backbone of Indonesia\u2019s export economy\u2014continued to demonstrate resilience, with exports reaching <strong>USD 21.80 billion<\/strong>, up <strong>4.71%<\/strong> from February. This growth was led by several key commodities, including:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Metal ores, slag, and ash<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Iron and steel<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Machinery and electrical equipment and parts thereof<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Silver and its derivatives<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><p>\u201cThese commodities played a central role in the March 2025 export surge, especially in the non-oil and gas sector,\u201d said Amalia, highlighting the strength of Indonesia\u2019s manufacturing and extractive industries in global trade.<\/p><p><strong>Year-on-Year Export Growth Also Positive<\/strong><\/p><p>On an annual basis, Indonesia\u2019s export value in March 2025 increased by <strong>3.16%<\/strong> compared to the same month in 2024. This <strong>year-on-year growth<\/strong> reflects the country\u2019s ongoing efforts to diversify its export base and strengthen its industrial output.<\/p><p>The yearly increase was supported primarily by the <strong>non-oil and gas exports<\/strong>, with strong performances in:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Animal or vegetable fats and oils<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Nickel and its derivatives<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Electrical machinery and equipment<br \/><br \/><\/strong><\/li><\/ul><p>These categories continue to benefit from global demand, particularly from Asian and European markets, and are a testament to Indonesia\u2019s rising position in the global value chain, especially in natural resources processing and manufacturing.<\/p><p><strong>Resilient Trade Performance Amid Global Uncertainty<\/strong><\/p><p>Indonesia\u2019s robust export performance in March came amid continued volatility in global trade, driven by geopolitical tensions, supply chain disruptions, and fluctuating commodity prices. Despite these challenges, the country\u2019s export-oriented sectors have managed to deliver strong results.<\/p><p>The rise in oil and gas exports, in particular, suggests positive momentum for energy commodities, while the consistent growth in non-oil and gas exports highlights the country\u2019s improving competitiveness in industrial and high-value-added products.<\/p><p><strong>Looking Ahead<\/strong><\/p><p>As the global economy continues to navigate uncertainty in 2025, Indonesia\u2019s trade performance will likely remain a key pillar of its economic stability.
